Y'ALL OPEN?

SETTING: Khi Mao Kitchen
SCENE: Casual Thai FSR
LOCATION: Strip-mall, Suburbs
DAY: Tuesday
TIME: Morning
FOH STAFF: OFF
GUESTS: Linda, Stanley
{Linda and Stanley proceed to yell at each other back and forth from the locked door and parked car. Stanley peers in through the glass door with cupped hands.}
Stanley (S): I don't see anyone.
L: WHAT?
S: SEE! SEE! I DON’T SEE ANYONE! Nobody’s inside.
{Stanley walks around the side of the building and then back to pull on the locked front door a second time before retreating to Linda's open car window.}
L: That's new.
S: Did you wanna try calling?
L: What do you think I'm doing? It's ringing.
S: Didn’t we eat here a couple weeks ago? I swear it was Tuesday.
L: Tuesday. Lunch. With Shirley. Shirly and her daughter Diane…Dina or Dinny. Whatever she calls herself these days.
S: The quirky kid
L: To put it nicely. She’s an odd duck that one. It just keeps ringing. No answer.

{Stanley gets into the driver's seat.}
S: The sign says closed.
L: I'm online…and it says they're open.
S: Can you leave a review? Should let em know at least. Can’t be the only customers turned away. Maybe message them on Facebook. Or Instagram it.
L: Instagram, yup. I’ll leave one there too. Should we just go to Paneras? We know they'll be open.
S: Panera’s it is. Here's the thing. Nobody wants to work anymore. Earn an honest dollar.
{The older couple drive off as Stanley monologues about worker’s of yesteryear and Linda types out a negative Google review and multiple messages on social media in all caps.}
